Biography

This Forest Engineer from the Madrid Polytechnic University and founding member of AGRESTA S. COOP. has 14 years of experience in the management of working groups within the cooperative. In recent years, he has been working in the development of methodologies for LiDAR processing of large areas, coordinating development projects for PNOA data forest applications in the Autonomous Regions of Madrid and La Rioja. He is part of Agresta’s Forest Resources Assessment Team, where he has worked in disseminating LiDAR’s potential for forestry applications by presenting it in several technical forums both in Spain and Latin America.

Biography

This Forest Engineer is now studying for his Doctorate. His research area is based on the search for remote sensing tools for sustainable forestry management. Inside AGRESTA S. COOP., he coordinates the Forest Resources Assessment Area. He is the technical manager of Agresta’s projects such as ForestUP or the CLAVE project – Classification, Parametrisation and Cartography of plant species in natural spaces of great ecological value by applying remote-sensing technologies. Since 2004, he has participated and coordinated many projects within Agresta, both of forestry inventories (with classic methods and LiDAR technology) and forestry planning. He has coordinated and given LiDAR courses, both at national and international levels, as well as many LiDAR-technology forest applications presentations to several institutions. Biography

He is currently coordinating the Surveying and Cartography Department in AGRESTA S. COOP., from where he has coordinated both technical projects related to surveying and GPS, and training that Agresta has been offering in these fields. He has been part of both the organisation and the teaching staff of the LiDAR courses provided by Agresta. Since 2010, he coordinates his job at Agresta with an Associated Teacher post of Surveying at the Madrid Polytechnic University Civil Engineering School.

  • Natalia Bernal Caputto

Biography

After graduating as a Forest Engineer from the University of Cordoba in 2000 and obtaining her Master’s Degree in GIS Programming with Python, she has been participating in AGRESTA S. COOP., a consultancy firm specialised in forestry, as a member since 2005. Since then, she has been part of the GIS Working Area, which once provided services and support to the rest of the cooperative in this area. At present, she is part of the SIG and New Technologies Department, which is working on the development of new mobile and desktop applications in which the GIS is an essential part in all of its components. Throughout her professional career, she has coordinated computer development projects, such as new GIS toolbars for the processing of forest management projects and the management of its public use in the Cazorla Natural Park. Finally, she has coordinated many courses always related to new technologies and Geographical Information Systems.

Biography

He holds a Forest Engineer Degree from the Madrid Polytechnic University since 2000 and he is a founding member of AGRESTA S. COOP. He is specialised in Sustainable Forest Management and Planning, and has extensive experience working in forests with multiple production and protection objectives, and pasture and livestock exploitation management. He has elaborated multiple forestry management and silvopastoral plans in more than 75,000 ha (185,300 acre), and designed and coordinated forest inventories of more than 100,000 ha (217,100 acre). In recent years, he has been intensely working on LiDAR applied to forestry management, by designing inventories, calculating tree cuts, and elaborating management plans from LiDAR data. At the same time, he has specialised in the statistic modelling of forest variables, especially from LiDAR statistics.

Biography

She holds a Doctorate in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Cordoba. She did her doctoral dissertation at the Institute for Sustainable Agriculture (IAS-CSIC) on remote sensing applied to estimating the biochemical and structural characteristics of crops. She has been part of several working teams at international level as an Expert on Remote Sensing in countries such as France, Norway, UK, and Brazil.

Biography

He holds a Forest Engineer Degree from the University of Cordoba since 2003. In 2007, he joined AGRESTA S. COOP., working mainly in Andalusia and Extremadura, although he occasionally collaborates with Agresta’s HQ in Castile and Leon and Castile-La Mancha. He is currently the Local Administrator of Agresta’s HQ in Seville and member of the Forest Resources Mobilisation Area and Forest Resources Assessment Area. He divides his time between forest planning projects and vegetation inventories. He carried out the improvement and implementation of methodologies for capturing field data and its subsequent processing by incorporating LiDAR technology as an inventory tool.

Biography

Ingeniero de Montes por la Universidad Politécnica de Valencia UPV y Máster en Incendios Forestales, Ciencia y Gestión Integral por las U.de Lleida, León y Córdoba, con formación especializada en incendios forestales, SIG, inventario forestal, teledetección y LiDAR, valorización de biomasa y cultivos energéticos. Ha colaborado con departamentos de la UPV y empresas públicas y privadas en el ámbito de la consultoría. Ponente en congresos y jornadas técnicas del área forestal, es autor de publicaciones científicas, manuales universitarios y artículos de divulgación en este campo. Actualmente trabaja en la industria maderera: dirección de aprovechamientos forestales, coordinación logística, suministro a plantas bioenergéticas, además de realizar proyectos de restauración, ordenación forestal y prevención de incendios.

Biography

This Forest Engineer from the Madrid Polytechnic University has worked as a researcher there since 2008, where he obtained his Doctorate from in 2014. He lived in Central America between 2009 and 2013, obtaining his MSc as an Expert in Soil Science at the University of Costa Rica. His main research area is the sustainable management of soil resources in forest plantations, and he has extensive experience in the statistic modelling of environmental variables. He currently works as an independent Technical Consultant; he is carrying out several forest management projects based on LiDAR data, and collaborates with AGRESTA S. COOP. in remote sensing applied to REDD+ projects in Costa Rica.

Biography

Doctora Ingeniera de Montes por la Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, realizó su tesis doctoral en el Laboratorio de Incendios Forestales del CIFOR-INIA. Desde el año 2002, desarrolla proyectos forestales de I+D en empresas y organismos públicos de investigación, en equipos multidisciplinares nacionales e internacionales. Ha realizado estancias en centros de referencia internacional en incendios forestales en Francia (INRA, Avignon) y EEUU (Universidad de California, Berkeley). Desde abril de 2015 es miembro de AGRESTA S. COOP., incorporándose al Área de Evaluación de los Recursos Forestales como experta en incendios forestales, donde trabaja en proyectos sobre aplicación de la tecnología LIDAR para la cartografía de modelos de combustible y seguimiento de la regeneración post-incendio.

Ingeniero de Montes por la Universidad de Córdoba en el año 2005, actualmente está cursando el Máster Universitario en Incendios Forestales. Ciencia y Gestión Integral. Tras comenzar realizando con trabajos relacionados con la consultoría ambiental y en energías renovables en la Región de Murcia, en 2007 entra en AGRESTA S. COOP.  como técnico de proyectos, realizando principalmente proyectos de planificación preventiva contra incendios forestales y proyectos de obra y restauración hidrológico-forestal en la Región de Murcia. Paralelamente entra a formar parte del área de trabajo GIS que daba servicio y soporte a la cooperativa en este ámbito, habiendo coordinado dicha área durante dos años. En los últimos años se ha centrado principalmente en proyectos de planificación forestal e inventarios forestales utilizando la tecnología LiDAR en la Comunidad Valenciana. Compagina estos trabajos con los de Consejero de la cooperativa desde el año 2013.

Biography

Nur Algeet Abarquero es Doctora Ingeniera de Montes (2014) por la Universidad Politécnica de Madrid y MSc por la Universidad de Wageningen. Ha trabajado como investigadora y docente en la Universidad Politécnica de Madrid y en la Universidad de Costa Rica. Desde 2014 trabaja en Agresta en el Área de Evaluación de los Recursos Forestales. Es especialista en SIG y teledetección aplicada a estudios de coberturas vegetales, biomasa forestal y carbono en el marco REDD+.

Biography

Licenciada en Ciencias Ambientales por la Universidad de Alcalá en 2011. Tras varios años viviendo en Irlanda, regresa a España para cursar el “Máster en TIG para la OT: SIG y Teledetección” de la Universidad de Zaragoza. En junio de 2015 se incorpora a AGRESTA S. COOP para realizar su TFM, el cual se centró en la evolución de los recursos forestales a partir de sensores satelitales. Paralelamente colabora en el proyecto LIFE ENERBIOSCRUB, en el cual se aplican tecnologías de la teledetección para cartografiar especies vegetales y cuantificar la biomasa forestal.

Biography

Ingeniero de Montes por la Universidad Politécnica de Madrid en el año 2002. Comienza su actividad profesional en empresas públicas realizando trabajos de catalogación, deslindes y amojonamientos de montes públicos y vías pecuarias primero como técnico en la provincia de Jaén y, a partir del año 2005, en Cuenca. Desde abril de 2006 técnico de Agresta S. Coop. de la cual es socio en la actualidad. Especializado en deslindes y planificación forestal y con amplia experiencia en redacción de proyectos de ingeniería ambiental, dirección de obra y gestión de fincas forestales. Ha trabajado en la Región de Murcia y Castilla-La Mancha y en la actualidad es responsable de la sede de Agresta S. Coop. en Cuenca. Cuenta con experiencia en la organización e impartición de acciones formativas en el ámbito forestal.

Biography

Ingeniero de Montes, desde el año 2002 forma parte del Departamento de Proyectos y Medio Ambiente de Agresta S. Coop, desarrollando trabajos técnicos de campo y gabinete así como gestión de equipos. Ubicado actualmente en la sede de Cuenca, cuenta con experiencia extensa en proyectos y dirección de obra forestal . Posee también experiencia en el sector de la formación, como secretario técnico en organización de cursos y formador en cursos en temática relacionada con Restauración de Ríos, software específico de hidráulica fluvial y turismo forestal.

Biography

She graduated as a Forest Engineer from the Madrid Polytechnic University in 2003 and has been a member of AGRESTA S. COOP. ever since. An Expert in Geographical Information Applications of Master in Geographical Information Systems at the Pontifical University of Salamanca, she was part of the GIS Work Area that once provided services and support to the rest of the cooperative in this field. She is currently part of the GIS and New Technologies Department, as well as part of Agresta’s Forest Resources Assessment Team, where she has worked with LiDAR for forestry applications.
